‘Aafia Siddiqui
Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
Tomorrow, Monday, February 1st, 2010, the prosecution & defense will make their closing arguments/statements. Please remember to keep her in your du3aas tonight…get up 20 minutes before Fajr (if you don’t normally wake up that early) and beg Allaah to release her. Ask for this case to be dropped or for her to be found not guilty.

Alas sister, it didn’t happen… and now we are only ranting like pathetic losers
Alas! Dr. Aafia was not Helen of Troy
by Zeeshan Rizvi
As put by one of my friends, Qaseem Ali, we are the sissiest of all nations. Dr. Afia, one of our own, a Pakistani, a Scientist, a Woman, and a Karachiite, was kidnapped, physically abused (euphemistically put), extorted, had her children killed, was detained, was illegally tried and convicted. While all this happens, our idiotic leaders remain religiously silent while our youngsters idiotically pat their chest and chant “Aal is well”.
I dont want to discuss the penetration of Islamophobia in American judiciary since that is probably apparent to every eye. Assessing the legality of the prosecution would be in vain since it is well known that a Pakistani national cannot be tried in an American court when the crime she was convicted of was not committed on their soil nor did she have their passport. However, the burning questions are directed towards us and not towards them. It is the question of who handed her over to them? It is the question that using the same rationale, why is it that when we arrest 5 American nationals from Sargodha planning to bomb our cities, we, instead of trying them in our court try to deport them back to their country? Why is it that none of the dozens of Americans caught roaming on the streets of Islamabad with unlicensed weapons have ever been convicted? 2 Americans were caught spying near Sihala college and near Kahota a few months back. They did not remain in custody even for a few hours. Why did this happen?
The mere difference between how both our nations treat each other portrays our behavior as that of a slave rather than of a friend on an equal footing.
Spartans were better than us. On the abduction of a single Helen, they waged a war against Troy. Alas, Dr. Afia was not Helen of Troy, nor did she belong to a people led by honorable men.

subhanAllaah. Words cannot explain the shock & pain felt across the Muslim world when the verdict was reached and delivered. But inshaAllaah perhaps this will fuel the fight against injustice.
P.S. we need not even refer to the non-Muslims for a glorious reaction to the dishonoring of a woman. Remember when the Romans took the Muslimah and she cried, “Wa Mu3tasimah!” The entire Muslim army went to rescue her and did not abandon the fight until she was freed. SubhanAllaah! The cry of one woman!
